A 17-year-old Ohio boy was killed Friday night in a crash on Interstate 80 near Neola, Iowa.
The Iowa State Patrol said the crash occurred just before 6:30 p.m. when a 2016 Kia Sportage traveling east veered onto the shoulder and rear-ended a 2005 Honda Civic that had pulled off the road. Angel Martinez of Medina, Ohio, was a backseat passenger in the Honda and was pronounced dead at the scene.
The driver of the Honda, 36-year-old Fabian Prado, also from Ohio, was taken to Mercy Hospital in Council Bluffs with injuries, the State Patrol said. He had been released by Saturday afternoon.
The other driver, 52-year-old Karen Marchbanks of North Carolina, was not injured.
