Nashua, NH : Two people died in a fiery crash at Circumferential Highway on Saturday, 9th October, 2016
Two people died in a fiery crash on Circumferential Highway in Nashua late Saturday night.
State police responded to the crash around 10:17 p.m.
Officers found a Nissan Maxima fully engulfed in flames next to the bottom of the Merrimack River Bridge, officials said.
An initial investigation indicated that the Nissan was traveling along the highway at a high rate of speed and tried to use an off ramp towards Daniel Webster Highway when the driver lost control of the car, police said.
Investigators said the car continued across the grass median and was launched over the ramp and guard rail, towards the Merrimack River.
The Nissan fell several feet before it landed next to the railroad tracks and became engulfed in flames, officials said.
Both occupants of the Nissan sustained fatal injuries.
A portion of the highway was closed for approximately five-and-a-half hours.
The crash remains under investigation, but speed is believed to have been a factor, officials said.
