Eugene,OR : Idaho man dies in crash near Diamond Lake on June, Friday 30th 2017
A 56-year-old man from Idaho Falls, Idaho, died Friday morning in a head-on collision on Highway 230 near Diamond Lake.
William Hunter Houff was killed when his 2006 Kia Amanti was struck by a 2007 Chevrolet Silverado pickup truck pulling a utility trailer, according to Oregon State Police.
The Silverado, driven by Mark Andrew Root, 49, of Eagle Point, was heading east on the highway near Milepost 22 when it drifted over the centerline and into the westbound lane, hitting the Kia, according to police.
Houff’s passenger, Lisa Barnett Carr, 54, of Idaho Falls was airlifted to PeaceHealth Sacred Heart Medical Center at RiverBend in Springfield with serious injuries.
Root was airlifted to a Bend hospital with serious injuries.
Houff’s body was taken to Wilson Chapel of the Roses in Roseburg.
Police said seatbelts were not used and that intoxicants were not a contributing factor.
