An elderly couple was killed Saturday after being struck by an SUV while crossing a street in Caledonia, police said.

Oscar and Vernetta Lang, both 83, were leaving 5 p.m. church services at St. Louis Catholic Church, 13207 County Road G. They attempted to cross the highway to get to their vehicle at approximately 5:45 p.m. when the incident occurred.

The vehicle that struck the victims was being driven by a Monica Sanchez, 32, of Racine, according to police.

Two children were in the car with her; no one in the SUV was injured.

Police said alcohol is not believed to be a factor in the accident.

The incident is still under investigation.
