Sugar Grove,NC : Two-vehicle collision sends one to hospital on October, Tuesday 3rd 2017

A collision between a 2008 Ford Ranger and 2004 Honda Odyssey sent one to the hospital with non-life threatening injuries, according to State Highway Patrol Trooper J. Hodges.

Hodges, Cove Creek Fire and Watauga Medics responded to the 9:34 a.m. call at the intersection of Mast Gap Road and U.S. 321 near the Cove Creek Store where traffic was stopped for about an hour.

Driving the Odyssey was Allison Foster, 39, of Zionville, with three children inside, all under the age of 7, Hodges said. The driver of the Ranger — Raymond Hicks, 53, of Elk Park — was transported to Watauga Medical.

Foster was attempting to make a left turn on Mast Gap Road from U.S. 321 while Hicks was traveling southbound, Hodges said.

"When (Foster) saw the Ford Ranger coming, she decided to swerve back to the right," Hodges said. When she did that, the Ford Ranger swerved to the left thinking that he was going to avoid her. Then they collided."

Neither vehicle's air bag deployed and everyone was wearing their seatbelts, Hodges said. Hodges also said both vehicles were determined to be total losses.

Hodges issued Foster a citation for a yield violation.
