A four-vehicle crash caused serious injuries for at least two people Wednesday and involved Nassau County’s assistant fire rescue chief, according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
Ronald Wilks, 61, of Yulee turned onto Florida 100 from William Burgess Boulevard about 7:30 a.m. when his Mercury Montego was struck by Logan Vendola in a Nissan Altima, the Highway Patrol said.
The Altima crossed into oncoming traffic hitting Scott Hemmingway, 45, in an unmarked Nassau County assistant fire rescue chief SUV and Juliet Kreisman’s Hyundai Accent, the FHP said.
Vendola, 21, of Fernandina Beach and Kreisman, 44, of St. Augustine suffered serious injuries, the FHP said. The others — including a 5-year-old with Kreisman had minor injuries or weren’t hospitalized.
