CHARLOTTE, NC : A man killed in a south Charlotte on Sunday, July 30, 2017
Charlotte, North Carolina
A man killed in a south Charlotte wreck Sunday evening has been identified as 53-year-old Anthony Jerome Bailey.
The wreck happened around 9:46 p.m. in the 3100 block of Providence Road, near the Cotswold area. Police say Bailey was driving a Toyota Camry when he ran off the right side of the road, then overcorrected and lost control of the vehicle.
The Camry then went across the road and a grass median, striking a utility pole. Bailey, police said, was not wearing a seat belt.
He was taken to Carolinas Medical Center where he was pronounced deceased a short time later. No other injuries were reported.
Investigators say it appears that speed and alcohol use contributed to the crash.
