Monett,MO : Carthage man injured in I-44 wreck on September, Saturday 9th 2017

A Carthage man was injured in a wreck on Saturday at 1:05 p.m. on Interstate 44, four miles west of Mt. Vernon.

According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, Michael McGinnis, 42, of Carthage, was driving a 2002 Chevrolet Tahoe eastbound when his vehicle ran off the roadway, struck a guard rail, returned to the roadway and overturned, ejecting the driver.

McGinnis suffered serious injuries and was airlifted to Cox South Hospital in Springfield.

He was not wearing a safety device, and the vehicle was totaled.
