Colleton County, SC : Driver lost control in fatal crash along I-95 northbound on early Monday morning July 21st 2014

The South Carolina Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal crash along I-95 northbound that happened early Monday morning.

Troopers say a driver lost control near mile marker 61 around 3 a.m., just a couple miles north of the Walterboro exit. The driver hit a median and then struck several trees.

Officials say a total of six people were in the vehicle. One person died at the scene and the five others were taken to area hospitals with what troopers say were serious injuries.

The victims name has not been released.

The crash is under investigation.
