Sarasota, FL : 9-year-old boy seriously injured after being hit by car in Sarasota on Sunday, July 5, 2015

A 9-year-old boy has been seriously injured after authorities say he ran into traffic in Sarasota and was hit by a car.

Police say the boy and his mother were walking after midnight Sunday when the unidentified victim darted into traffic and was hit. He was flown to the hospital with serious injuries.

Authorities say the driver of the vehicle stopped and has been cooperative.
