Happy Valley, CA : One person dead and another injured following a single-vehicle crash in Anderson on Monday morning, September 26, 2016
One person is dead and another has been hospitalized following a single-vehicle crash in Happy Valley this evening.
The California Highway Patrol reports that one man was killed and a woman was taken to a local hospital after a car crashed into the side of a hill shortly before 6 p.m.
The driver of a 2001 black Dodge pickup truck was thrown from his vehicle after he lost control and his truck overturned, according to CHP.
The 33-year-old driver from Hayfork died from his injuries. The passenger, a 30-year-old woman from Lead, South Dakota was able to get out of the truck after the crash. She had a minor neck injury. Both were taken to Mercy Medical Center.
Neither the driver or the passenger were wearing their seatbelts, according to CHP.
The crash happened near the intersection of Peter Pan Gulch and Olinda Road, which is less than a mile west of Anderson High School.
CHP officers were still at the scene investigating the crash Monday night and Olinda Road was reportedly closed, according to the CHP website.
It was not clear how the crash occurred or what caused it.
