WHITE RIVER JUNCTION, VT : Vt. man denies additional charges in fatal hit-and-run on Tuesday, 4th October 2016
White River Junction, Vermont
A Vermont driver accused in a hit-and-run that killed a 37-year-old man has pleaded not guilty to three additional charges brought against him last month.
The Valley News reports 21-year-old James Ribeiro of Springfield entered the pleas Tuesday in Windsor Superior Court to two felony charges of leaving the scene of a crash with serious bodily injury resulting and a misdemeanor driving under the influence charge.
He pleaded not guilty to two other charges in June.
Police allege Ribeiro struck and killed Steven Lapre and injured 31-year-old Pamela Runnells in Springfield in June.
A new affidavit says there is probable cause to believe Ribeiro operated a motor vehicle on a public highway while impaired by marijuana when he drove to the police department to turn himself in.
