Staten Island, NY : Tractor-trailer crashes into guard rail, poles on S.I. Expressway Wednesday morning, July 27, 2016

A tractor-trailer struck a guard rail and a few poles near the approach to the Verrazano-Narrows Bridge Wednesday morning, according to an FDNY spokesman.

The emergency call came in at 10:54 a.m. after the tractor-trailer crashed near the Lily Pond Avenue exit on the Staten Island Expressway, the spokesman said.

One patient was being evaluated at the scene, but there were no transports to local hospitals, the spokesman said.

The incident is causing traffic delays on the Brooklyn-bound side of the Staten Island Expressway.

Stop-and-go traffic is reported eastbound in the vicinity of Fingerboard Road and Lily Pond Avenue, according to WCBS 880.
