Orlando, FL: Car crashes into OPD cruiser on I-4 on Friday, July 24th 2015
OPD officers were conducting roadside DUI checks on a possible hit and run investigation early Friday morning. Then, around 3 A.M, a car traveling Westbound on I-4 rear-ended one the patrol vehicles, causing that patrol cruiser to spin out of control and hit another cruiser. It ended in the middle lanes on I-4 underneath the 408 off-ramp bridge.Police say the driver that caused the initial crash may have fallen asleep at the wheel. Investigators do not suspect the driver was under the influence of alcohol or drugs.Because of all the cars involved and large amounts of debris, all lanes had to be shut down for about an hour and half. Traffic was temporarily diverted at Anderson Street.Luckily, no one was hurt.
