State police say a northern New York man has died in a collision involving his car and a tractor-trailer.

Troopers say 50-year-old Douglas Medley of Watertown was driving south on state Route 11 around 3 p.m. Wednesday when he crossed over the center lane in the Jefferson County village of Evan Mills.

Police say the driver of a northbound truck towing a flatbed trailer took evasive action, but Medley's car hit the trailer's rear axle.

Troopers say Medley was pronounced dead at the scene. The truck driver wasn't injured.
