Blakeley Township, SC : 2 from Le Sueur killed in snowmobile crash at the intersection of 280th Street W (State Highway 19) and Lehnert Lane on Sunday, 3rd March 2019
Two people from Le Sueur were killed when their snowmobile hit a power pole in Blakeley Township in rural Scott County Sunday, March 3.
According to the Scott County Sheriff’s Office, dispatchers received a call at approximately 4:27 p.m. Sunday about a snowmobile crash with injuries at the intersection of 280th Street W (State Highway 19) and Lehnert Lane, which is just west of the interchange with Highway 169.
Deputies responded to the scene where they found that a 2014 Ski-Doo Renegade snowmobile with two riders had collided with a power pole. Upon investigation, it was found that the snowmobile was traveling eastbound on a marked trail in the north road right-of-way.
Jeremy Michael Pumper, 42, of Le Sueur, the driver of the snowmobile, suffered fatal injuries. Crystal Jo Olson, 33, also of Le Sueur, the passenger, sustained serious injuries and was transported by ambulance to Ridgeview Medical Center in Le Sueur where she died.
Both Pumper and Olson were wearing helmets at the time of the crash. It is unknown at this time if the driver of the snowmobile was under the influence of drugs or alcohol.
The Scott County Sheriff’s Office was assisted at the scene by the Minnesota State Patrol, Minnesota DNR, Belle Plaine Fire Department, Belle Plaine Police Department, New Prague Police Department and Ridgeview Ambulance Services. The Scott County Sheriff’s Office, along with the Minnesota State Patrol are investigating.
