Memphis, TN : Pedestrian struck, killed by semi-truck on I-40 on Wednesday, May 4, 2016

Interstate 40 at Danny Thomas Boulevard was shut down after a pedestrian was struck and killed by a semi-truck.

I-40 has opened back up after being closed while police investigated the scene for over an hour in one of the city's busiest areas.

The truck driver stayed on the scene and cooperated with police during the investigation. It is still unclear what led up to the pedestrian being struck.

According to information from emergency crews, the pedestrian was pronounced dead on the scene when emergency crews arrived.
