El Paso, TX : Driver killed in Lower Valley crash on Monday, December 19, 2016

The El Paso Police Department on Monday identified one of two men killed when a car crashed into a tree early Saturday in the Lower Valley.

Police said that Daniel Pichardo, 24, of El Paso, was driving a 2002 Acura RSX at a high speed at 1:15 a.m. when he lost control and crashed into a tree in the 300 block of Pendale Road.

The name of a 21-year-old passenger has not been released pending notification of family, police said. Both men died at the scene.

An investigation into the crash continues, police said.
