Carbondale, IL : Multiple injuries in Randolph County crash on Sunday, November 6, 2016

One person suffered incapacitating injuries and two suffered minor injuries Sunday in a two-vehicle crash in Randolph County, according to Illinois State Police.

According to driver and eye witness accounts, a Dodge vehicle driven by 20-year-old Justin Guethle of Chester was westbound on Illinois 154 at Griggs Road at about 1:51 p.m. Sunday. A Toyota pickup truck driven by Wilford Wolfmeier, 56, of Red Bud was eastbound. The Toyota turned left into the path of the Dodge, causing a collision.

Both drivers were taken to Red Bud Hospital with minor injuries. An 18-year-old man from Evansville, who was a passenger in the Toyota, was airlifted to Saint Louis University Hospital with incapacitating injuries. Guethle was cited for failure to yield while turning.

The roadway was closed for about an hour and has been reopened. Baldwin Fire Department and Randolph County Sheriff's Department assisted.
