METHUEN, MA : Driver of stolen car suffers serious injuries after crash on Saturday, 4th May 2019

The driver of a stolen car is in critical condition after a crash Saturday night, police said.

According to police, a dark-colored sedan driving at a fast rate on Howe Street near Marshal Street crashed into a light pole and the signal control box at the intersection of Jackson and Pleasant Valley streets at 11:24 p.m.

The driver, whose identify is not being released, suffered serious injuries, police said. He was transported to a Boston hospital in a medical helicopter where police said he is in critical condition.

Police said they believe the car was stolen after the driver broke into the car owner's home. The suspect reportedly knew the homeowner, police said.
