Salisbury,VT : Driver in Sudbury crash had been drinking on September, Saturday 16th 2017
A local woman is facing a criminal charge after police said they suspected she was under the influence of alcohol on Saturday when she crashed her car on Route 30.
Nicole J. Mulcahy, 22, of Sudbury, is scheduled to be arraigned on Oct. 2 in Rutland criminal court on a charge of driving under the influence of alcohol.
In a news release, Trooper Craig Roland said police responded to a crash around 11:20 p.m. Saturday on Route 30 in Sudbury.
Roland said a police investigation revealed Mulcahy traveled off the roadway and about 1,500 meters through a field, before her vehicle became stuck in a swampy pond. Mulcahy was not injured and was able to get out of the vehicle under her own power and call for help.
Troopers detected signs of alcohol impairment.
Mulcahy was taken to the Rutland Regional Medical Center where she was treated and released for a minor abrasion.
She was was then taken into custody for DUI and taken to the Vermont State Police barracks in Rutland for processing. After she was cited, Mulcahy was released to a sober party, Roland said.
