Leesburg ,VA : Two people killed after two vehicle Crash at U.S. Highway 27 on Tuesday evening ,August 25th 2015
Two men killed in a Leesburg crash Tuesday evening have been identified as David Gossard, 77, of The Villages, and Charles Eversole, 72, of Leesburg, the Florida Highway Patrol said today.
The two-vehicle crash occurred at 6:10 p.m. at U.S. Highway 27 and Highland Lakes Boulevard, FHP Sgt. Kim Montes said.
Gossard was driving a 2003 Honda van with two passengers when he made a left turn onto U.S. 27 into the direct path of a northbound 1998 Toyota vehicle. The Toyota T-boned the van, according to Montes.
Gossard and passenger Eversole were pronounced dead at the scene. The other passenger, Michael Galco, 70, of Leesburg, was taken to Orlando Regional Medical Center, where he was listed in critical condition, Montes said.
Frederick Mabry, 22, of Port St. Joe, the driver of the second car, was taken to Florida Hospital Waterman in Tavares with minor injuries, Montes said.
Troopers closed the southbound lane of U.S. 27 as they investigated the crash.
