Portland, OR : Police Officer injured, Drunk Driver Crashes into Patrol Car on Friday Night, February 27, 2015
Authorities say a Portland police officer was hospitalized with serious but not life-threatening injuries after her patrol car was hit by a suspected drunk driver.
Portland police spokesman Sgt. Pete Simpson says Allison Renander was responding to a domestic-violence call when the collision occurred late Friday. He says the officer was slowing down while approaching an intersection when a pickup driven by Gary Clark struck the back of her car. The force sent the patrol car into a yard.
Clark was charged with reckless driving and driving under the influence of intoxicants. He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday.
Simpson says Renander has been with the Portland Police Bureau for seven years.
