Tallahassee, FL : WCSO deputy cited for careless driving in crash on Monday, July 24, 2017
A Walton County Sheriff’s Office deputy was cited for careless driving following a rear-end collision on U.S. Highway 98 on Monday afternoon.
According to a Florida Highway Patrol news release, WCSO Deputy Farron Collins, 30, was traveling east on U.S. 98 in a marked patrol car at the time of the 5:16 p.m. accident.
FHP noted in the release that the patrol car was gaining on slower traffic and coming upon a 2009 Honda Accord driven by Kimberly Puckett, 60, of Richardson, Texas.
The patrol car failed to slow in time and rear-ended the Accord. The deputy was not injured while Puckett sustained minor injuries.
Both drivers were wearing seatbelts and alcohol was not involved in the accident, according to the release.
FHP cited Collins for careless driving.
