Martinsville , VA : 34 Years old man was killed in a horrible motor vehicle accident in Martinsville on Wednesday , November 26th 2014

Spc. Stephen Parson, 34, a Soldier based at Fort Hood, Texas, never made it home for the Thanksgiving holiday. Parson’s life was cut short in a horrible motor vehicle accident in Martinsville, West Virginia, Wednesday. Details of the accident were not released and there was no information regarding who might have been traveling with Spc. Parson. It is not known if it was a single-car or multiple-car accident. The Army only released basic information including Parson’s hometown of record, Pottstown, Pennsylvania, and that the behavioral health specialist entered active-duty in the Army in July 2012. He had been based at Fort Hood's Carl Darnall Army Medical Center since July of this year. Parson's military awards and commendations include the National Defense Service Medal, Global War on Terrorism Service Medal, Non-commissioned Officer Professional Development Ribbon and Army Service Ribbon. He had apparently been deployed overseas at least once. His marital status was not released by the Army. The family has not released funeral arrangements for their Soldier. Fort Hood is located in southeastern Texas and is home to more than 50,000 Soldiers. Civilians typically think of Fort Hood when they recall the 2009 massacre at the massive Army post committed by Army Major Nadal Hasan. The psychiatrist opened fire and killed 13 Soldiers on November 5, 2009. Hasan is incarcerated for the rest of his life at the U.S. Army’s Disciplinary Barracks at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas. Spc.
