Ocala, FL : Toppled tree in Ocala causes head-on collision, 2 hospitalized on Wednesday, June 18, 2014
Two people are hospitalized after an excavator accidentally knocked a tree down onto State Road 40 in Marion County.
Florida Highway Patrol troopers said around 2:30 p.m. Wednesday, a Department of Transportation contractor was working on the shoulder of State Road 40.
The contractor knocked a tree down, which hit a Hyundai SUV traveling eastbound on SR-40.
The SUV’s driver lost control and hit a box truck head-on.
The SUV’s driver and passenger were transported to the hospital with serious injuries.
