Augusta, GA : A trash truck in Columbia County collided on Friday, 6th April 2018
A trash truck in Columbia County collided with a car and then smashed into an SUV, killing the driver, according to the Columbia County Sheriff’s Office.
Capt. Steve Morris said the Precision Waste truck was traveling east on Columbia Road around 3:40 p.m. when a maroon Dodge Caliber pulled out into its path. The truck struck the Dodge and then shot into the westbound lane, where it hit the left side of a Kia SUV, Morris said in an email.
The driver of the SUV, 43-year-old Stacy Joy of Evans, was declared dead at the scene. Her husband, William, and their 10-year-old child were both taken to Doctors Hospital of Augusta with injuries that were not considered life-threatening, Columbia County Coroner Vernon Collins said.
The driver of the Dodge, Dorothy Powell of Grovetown, was also taken to the hospital with injuries not considered life-threatening. The driver of the trash truck was not injured.
