A San Bruno woman died and a San Francisco man suffered major injuries in a multivehicle collision Thursday night on Kirker Pass Road, a CHP officer said.

Police responded to a report of a crash involving at least three vehicles at 7:20 p.m. on Kirker Pass Road near Hess Road, said California Highway Patrol Officer Kevin Barlett. A 35-year-old San Bruno woman died shortly after being transported to the hospital.

The fatal collision prompted the closure of both northbound and southbound lanes as of 8:10 p.m., Barlett said. All lanes were reopened about 10 p.m.

The San Bruno woman, who drove a Ford Fiesta, was struck and killed while standing in the road of northbound Kirker Pass Road near Hess Road after a minor collision, according to the CHP. She and her passenger, a 36-year-old San Francisco man, exited the vehicle to exchange information with a 34-year-old Antioch woman whose Scion was involved in a minor crash.

As information was being exchanged near the cars, a Toyota Prius being driven by a 24-year-old Antioch woman struck the rear-end of the Scion, which slammed into the Ford.

The San Bruno woman and the San Francisco man sustained major injuries from the secondary crash. Both were transported to the hospital, where the woman died of her injuries.

Police said neither drugs nor alcohol appeared to be a factor in the crash. The collision was being investigated by the CHP.
