Fort Smith, AR : Mountainburg man injured, Dumas man killed in wreck in Chicot County on Wednesday, August 3, 2016
A Mountainburg man was taken to a Mississippi hospital after he was injured during a collision involving a fatality in Chicot County. Two men from Dumas were also involved in the collision and one was killed and the other injured, according to Arkansas State Police. The collision was investigated by state trooper, Caleb A. Pevehouse, the son of a Lt. Philip Pevehouse of the Sebastian County Sheriff's Office.
About 6:20 a.m. Wednesday, Harold Kilburn, 59, of Mountainburg and Steven James, 60, and David M. Cater, 45, both of Dumas, were traveling in a 2015 Chevrolet van south on U.S. 65, about one mile from the Chicot and Desha County lines, according to ASP.
For unknown reasons, the van went off the road into a ditch and struck a deep embankment and culvert, according to ASP.
James was killed in the collision and Kilburn and Cater were taken to a hospital in Greenville, Miss., according to ASP.
