Carbondale, IL : Car crashes into Women's Center in Carbondale on Thursday, February 2nd 2017

A Toyota Rav 4 crashed into the front entryway of the Women’s Center Thursday afternoon, leaving the building's brick vestibule damaged.

No one was hurt in the incident, the Carbondale Police Department said in a Twitter post shortly after the crash.

Cathy McClanahan, executive director of the Women’s Center, told The Southern that the driver of the vehicle was bringing his daughter in for services at the shelter when he accidentally hit the gas pedal instead of the brake.

The facility remains secure and open to guests, McClanahan said. Anyone who needs services can call the Crisis Line at 618-529-2324 to be let into the building.
