EL PASO, TX : Las Cruces man killed in Eastern New Mexico crash on NM State Rd. 70, south of Elida on Monday, 3rd June 2019

A Las Cruces man was killed early Monday morning when his vehicle lost control on NM State Rd. 70, south of Elida, causing it to roll.

Wilber J. Charles, 68, of Las Cruces was traveling south when he lost control of his 2002 Ford. Investigators say he left the roadway, crashed through the right of way fence and rolled. Charles, who was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected. He was pronounced dead at the scene of the crash.

New Mexico State Police Investigators believe alcohol may have been a factor in the crash and the failure on behalf of Mr. Charles to properly wear a seatbelt was also a factor.
