NASHUA, NH : Two dead in fiery crash in Nashua on Saturday, 8th October 2016
An unknown driver and passenger died in a car crash that ended in flames on Circumferential Highway Saturday night, according to New Hampshire State Police.
At around 10:17 p.m., Trooper Melanie Locke responded to the accident. Locke found the Nissan Maxima engulfed in flames at the bottom of the Merrimack River bridge.
The car was traveling at high speeds eastbound on the highway, according to the preliminary investigation. The driver tried to use the off ramp toward the Daniel Webster Highway, but lost control. The car traveled across the grass median, went over the ramp and guard rail, falling several feet toward the Merrimack River.
The Nissan was found next to the railroad tracks at the bottom of the Merrimack River bridge, where it caught fire.
The eastbound off-ramp was closed for more than five hours while the scene was investigated and cleaned of debris. A New Hampshire State Police Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Unit member responded to the scene to aid in the investigation.
