Franklin County, OH : One person killed and two others were injured in crash I-71 on Friday, August 28 2015

One person was killed and two others were injured in a crash on Friday that tied up a section of I-71 south of Downtown for hours during afternoon traffic.
According to the Franklin County sheriff’s office, Austin Meyer, 18, of Columbus, was killed when the Honda Civic in which he was a back-seat passenger was rear-ended by a box truck driven by Paul Haas, 55, of Cincinnati, on southbound I-71 in Jackson Township.
The crash occurred just after 3 p.m. on the interstate between Frank Road and I-270. Both vehicles were traveling south, authorities said.
Meyer was pronounced dead at the crash site. Haas was uninjured.
Two others in the Honda were hospitalized with injuries that the sheriff’s office said aren’t life-threatening. The driver, Carrie Wolfe of Columbus, was taken to OhioHealth Grant Medical Center in stable condition. The front-seat passenger, Bradley Pepple of Columbus, was taken to Mount Carmel West in stable condition.
There have been no charges filed, and authorities say the crash remains under investigation.
Southbound I-71 was closed between I-70 and I-270 for about three hours.
