SYLVESTER, GA : Georgia State Patrol called to investigate collision at Highway 256 and Pine Forest Road on April, Monday 17th 2017
Law enforcement officials were at the scene of a wreck in Worth County on Monday that resulted in one fatality.
The collision involved a semi truck and a box truck at the intersection of Highway 256 and Pine Forest Road shortly before 9 a.m. The accident resulted in the death of a passenger in the semi and the driver in the box truck being airlifted, in critical condition, to a Thomasville hospital, officials from Worth County Fire and Rescue said
“On April 17, 2017, Worth County Fire Rescue/EMA was dispatched to a motor vehicle collision at the corner of Highway 256 and Pine Forest at 8:50 a.m. involving a semi and a box truck,” officials from Worth Fire and Rescue said. “The driver of the box truck was treated by Grady County EMS and airlifted to Thomasville in critical condition. The driver of the semi did not have any injuries; however, the passenger in the semi died from injuries sustained in the collision.
“Georgia State Patrol was on scene to investigate, as well as the Worth County Sheriff’s Department, who was on scene for assistance,” the Worth Fire and Rescue dispatch said. “Out of respect for the families involved, WCFR will not release victim information, and our thoughts and prayers are with both families.”
Questions about the investigation and the victims were referred to GSP. The investigating trooper could not immediately be reached by press time on Monday.
