CYPRESS, TX : All main lanes of Highway 290 inbound reopened after fatal crash on Monday, 1st February 2021

Harris County sheriff’s deputies said they are investigating after a deadly crash on Highway 290 Monday.

Deputies said the crash happened on Highway 290 near Huffmeister in Northwest Harris County around 2:54 a.m.

According to HCSO, a female driver was critically injured in the crash and a man died. Investigators said the woman, who was driving a 2005 Chevrolet Tahoe, failed to drive in a single lane, struck the inside divider that separates the eastbound lanes from the HOV lane, and then rolled over. Deputies said the man, who they believe was not wearing a seatbelt, was ejected from the vehicle. He was pronounced dead at the scene, deputies said. Investigators said the woman was taken to Ben Taub Hospital, where she had surgery.

There were no witnesses to the crash, investigators said. All main lanes of 290 inbound were closed due to the fatal accident, deputies said. They have since reopened.
