WINTER HAVEN, FL : Man on adult tricycle hit and killed in Polk County on Thursday, 8th February 2024

A man riding his adult tricycle Thursday night across Winter Lake Road was hit and killed by a vehicle, and efforts are underway to identify the driver.

The crash happened around 11:20 p.m. just west of Old Eagle Lake Road and U.S. Highway 17, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

Deputies say the man, 47-year-old Michael Ratton, was homeless and well-known to many people. As he was crossing the road on his pink adult tricycle, he was hit and died at the scene of the crash.
