Newton, N.C : One person died and two others injured in multi-vehicle wreck on U.S. Highway 321 near West 15th Street on Wednesday, Sep 23, 2015

One person died in a multi-vehicle collision at about 5:45 pm. Wednesday in Newton, police said.

The 3-vehicle wreck happened on U.S. Highway 321 near West 15th Street.

One driver suffered serious injuries and was flown to Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte while another driver was treated at the scene.

A third driver died at the scene.

Names of the victims have not been released pending notification of family members.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
