Knoxville, TE : Motorcyclist injured in hit and run crash in Interstate 40 on Friday October 9 2015
A motorcyclist injured Monday night when a Ford Escort driver collided with him on Interstate 40 has died, according to the Knoxville Police Department.KPD identified the motorcyclist as Salahuddin Abdul-Razacq, 34, of Knoxville. He was being treated at University of Tennessee Medical Center.
Police continue to look for the driver of the red Ford. No description of that person has been released.About 9 p.m. Monday police were called to the exit ramp at I-40 west and Cedar Bluff Road.Witnesses told police the Escort was in the left lane of the exit ramp from I-40 to Cedar Bluff when the drive veered into the front of Abdul-Razacq's Honda VRZ Motorcycle, according to KPD.
Abdul-Razacq, who was wearing a helmet, couldn't avoid the Ford. The driver then ran away, according to KPD.
Fatal accident investigators and investigators from the Hit and Run Unit are continuing their investigation," according to a release from KPD.
