Bradenton, FL : Scooter rider, 75, critically injured in crash in Manatee County on Friday, January 8, 2016

A man riding a motorized scooter was critically injured Friday after he was struck by a car.

According to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol:

James M. Roberts, 75, of Bradenton was riding an electric scooter in the Bank of America parking lot at 6160 14th Street W. in Manatee County at 11:39 a.m. Friday.

Donald Brown, 53, of Parrish was stopped for traffic northbound in the parking lot at 6160 14th Street West when he made a right turn. He failed to see the scooter and the front of Brown's 2013 Chevy pickup collided with the left rear of the scooter.

Roberts was taken to Blake Medical Center with critical injuries. Brown was not injured.
