Bus accident kills 13, injures 11 in Brazil
At least 13 people were killed and 11 others injured when a bus went off a highway in Brazil's Sao Paulo state and plunged into a ravine, police said Sunday.
The accident occurred early Sunday about 50 kilometers (31 miles) from the city of Sao Paulo.
The bus, which was carrying 52 people, flipped over on the Regis Bittencourt highway and rolled into a 10-meter (32-foot) ravine.
The bus left Curitiba on Saturday night and was scheduled to arrive in Rio de Janeiro on Sunday, police said.
The 11 injured, including a 1-year-old child, were taken to hospitals in Itaperica and Taboa da Serra, the two cities closest to the accident scene in a mountainous region of Sao Paulo state.
