Las Vegas ,NV:Two people killed and four others injured after car and mini bus carrying four passengers collided on Saturday ,September 5th 2015

The 24-year-old driver involved in a crash Saturday morning that killed two people and hospitalized four more is suspected of driving under the influence, according to Las Vegas police.

At 7:05 a.m., police responded to the 1100 block of South Main St., at the intersection of Main Street and Charleston Boulevard, where a car and a mini bus carrying four passengers collided, Metro Lt. Kendell Bell said.

Witness statements and evidence at the scene indicate 24-year-old Jonathan Donner was traveling west on Charleston in a 1998 BMW 540i when he ran a red light and struck the front left side of a 2011 Chevrolet Express Cutaway G350 bus traveling south on Main.

Upon impact, the bus rolled over and "immediately caught on fire," Bell said. The BMW spun and hit a stopped 2010 Ford F-150 before the BMW caught fire, police wrote in a release Saturday afternoon.

Three passengers were able to escape the burning bus and were taken to University Medical Center with serious injuries. They are a 30-year-old woman from Germany and a 39-year-old man and 34-year-old woman from Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

The driver of the bus, identified only as a 53-year-old Las Vegas man, and the fourth passenger, a 34-year-old man from Germany, died at the scene, police said.

Donner was pulled from the BMW by bystanders and taken to UMC with moderate injuries, the release said. He has been charged with two counts of DUI resulting in death and three counts of DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm and is being held at the Clark County Detention Center without bail, it said.

The driver of the Ford truck was not injured in the wreck.

These are the 67th and 68th traffic-related fatalities in Metro's jurisdiction this year, the release said.

Charleston was closed down after the crash between Commerce Road and Casino Center Boulevard. It was reopened just before 4 p.m., according to the Regional Transportation Commission.
