Eloy, AZ : A eleven people were injured in a Head-on collision at State Route 84 near Battaglia Road On Tuesday, May 10th, 2016
Almost a dozen people were involved in a head-on collision between two vehicles along State Route 84 near Battaglia Road last week.
The collision occurred around 8 p.m. May 10 when a van carrying 10 people was traveling eastbound on SR 84 and attempted to make left hand turn onto Battaglia Road when it was struck by a sedan with a single adult male driver.
Eloy Police Department were called to the scene along with Eloy Fire District, who provided medical aid to those injured.
Three helicopters were called in by EFD to airlift those critically injured, including the driver of the sedan and two of the van’s passengers. They were flown to Phoenix area hospitals to have their wounds treated.
An additional two people were transported to Banner Casa Grande hospital via ambulance. According to EPD there has been no updates on the status of any of the injured
Of the 10 people in the van, many were children ranging from ages one to 12.
The collision is under continuous investigation from EPD’s Traffic Enforcement division. Currently, speed and inattention are being investigated as factors that lead to the accident.
Pending the results of blood screenings and interviews, charges and citations are possible, police said.
