Detroit , MI : 36-year-old man was killed and another person injured in an accident with a DDOT bus on eastbound I-94 near Cadieux Saturday morning , February 7th 2015
Michigan State Police say a 36-year-old man was killed and another person injured in an accident with a DDOT bus on eastbound I-94 near Cadieux Saturday morning.
According to Michigan State Police Lt. Michael Shaw, it happened about 6:25 a.m. when the bus was stopped and blocking the left lane of the freeway. Around 6:30, the man driving a Chevy pickup truck ran into the back of the bus.
Moments later, a Ford van, driven by a 69-year-old Westland man hit both the truck and the bus. He was taken to the hospital with critical injuries and was expected to have surgery Saturday.
The 36-year-old was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the bus was not injured and the bus was empty at the time of the crash.
State Police say alcohol was not a factor with the DDOT driver but has not been determined if it was a factor with other drivers. They also say seatbelts were in use.
Michigan State Police are continuing to investigate the accident. If you think you have information, please call them.
