Sarasota, FL : All lanes of I-75 south are open after crash on Saturday, March 4th 2017
The Florida Highway Patrol continues to investigate a multiple-vehicle traffic crash on southbound Interstate 75 at mile marker 177. Preliminary investigation has determined that there are three fatalities, two known injuries transported and multiple vehicles involved including a car hauler semi.
The southbound lanes of I-75, south of the Toledo Blade 179 exit were closed for several hours. Motorist are encouraged to be patient and to find an alternate route of travel.
The northbound lanes remain open.
The Charlotte County Sheriff's Office advises drivers to avoid the area of U.S. 41, Toledo Blade and Veterans Boulevard due to congestion for the next several hours. Southbound I-75 traffic is being rerouted onto Toledo Blade to southbound U.S. 41 to Veterans Boulevard back to I-75.
