FULTON COUNTY, IN : Infant killed in northern Indiana crash on Saturday, March 18th 2017
An infant died following a two vehicle crash on U.S. 31 at State Road 110 late Saturday afternoon near the Fulton/Marshall County line near Rochester.
According to a State Police release Brittany Gonzalez, 21, of Monterrey was driving south on U.S. 31 when she tried to turn eastbound onto State Road 110. She didn't yield to norhbound traffic and was struck by a pick-up truck driven by Ricardo Hernandez, 24, of Goshen.
Gonzalez and two other passengers, Ivan Gonzalez, 21 and Isaac Davis, 2, in her vehicle were taken by medical helicopter to a South Bend Hospital with non-life threatening injuries. A third passenger Julain Gonzalez 11 months was taken by ground ambulance to a Plymouth hospital where he died a short time later. The driver of the pick-up truck was not injured.
Police do not believe alcohol or drugs were a factor in the crash. All the occupants of the car and the pick-up truck expect Ivan were wearing seat belts or were in child safety seats.
