Fort Madison, IA : One dead, two injured in morning accident on Wednesday, 9th November 2016

One person is dead and two others are injured following a crash in Lee County.

According to information from Lee County Sheriff Jim Sholl, at approximately 6:30 a.m. Wednesday a two-vehicle collision occurred west of West Point on County Road 103 (J40) near Franklin Road.

Sholl said the accident happened due to a driver’s window being frosted over. The vehicle driven by a male subject, now deceased, was traveling eastbound towards West Point. His vehicle drifted into the west bound lane and was struck by a westbound vehicle.

The road was closed for several hours so crews could clear the scene.

The accident remains under investigation by the Iowa State Patrol.

The names of the injured persons and the fatality have not been released pending notification of family members.
