Chippewa Falls, WI : Colby man dead in Clark County crash on February, Saturday 24th 2018
Chippewa Falls, Wisconsin
A Colby man has died after being involved in a Saturday crash in Clark County.
According to a report from Clark County deputy James Hirsch, Ambrose A. Schuh, 84, of Colby was traveling westbound on Highway 29 in the town of Longwood. Schuh signaled to turn right onto French Town Ave., and a milk truck driven by Todd M. Purgett, 51, moved into the left lane to avoid Schuh.
Schuh then decided to turn left and struck Purgett’s truck, taking both vehicles into the median.
Schuh was pronounced dead at the scene by Clark County coroner Richard J. Schleifer. Of the four passengers in Schuh’s vehicle, a 16-year-old and an 18-year-old had minor injuries, a 50-year-old was uninjured and another 16-year-old had serious injuries. The seriously injured teenager was transported to the Marshfield Medical Center at Marshfield Clinic.
Purgett, the driver of the milk truck, was also uninjured.
Both 16-year-olds and the 18-year-old were not wearing seatbelts at the time of the crash, Hirsch’s report said.
“Failure to yield right of way and improper turn appear to be factors in the accident,” the report said.
