Pompano Beach ,FL :Child hospitalized following Turnpike hit-and-run crash on Wednesday ,July 22 2015

Police are searching for the driver responsible for causing a multi-vehicle crash that put one child in the hospital.

The crash occurred on the northbound lanes of the Florida Turnpike, near mile marker 66, by the Pompano Beach rest stop.

The child was transported by Air Rescue to Broward Health Medical Center. One person was transported by ground to Broward Health North. Neither suffered life-threatening injuries.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, the crash involved three vehicles, one of which fled the scene. Officials currently do not have a description of that vehicle.

FHP and Pompano Beach Fire Rescue continue to investigate.
