Allentown, PA : Allentown car crash takes out bottom half of utility pole on Friday, 26th August, 2016
Autility pole was cut in two Friday night in Allentown when a car crashed into it, leaving its top half dangling by the wires along Roth Avenue.
A woman was driving the car southeast on Roth at 9:40 p.m. when she had trouble with the power steering, and the vehicle smashed into the pole, just north of Tremont Street and west of 16 th Street, according to a witness.
The impact with the pole crushed the passenger's side headlight and left a crack on the driver's side windshield. The airbag deployed in the crash. The driver had only minor injuries.
The car stopped on Roth Avenue about 200 feet south of the severed pole. Allentown police shut down the street while a PPL crew came in to repair the pole. No power outages were reported.
