Pahrump, NV : 17-year-old Las Vegas girl died in a rollover crash on State Route 160 at Gamebird Road on Thursday night, June 25, 2015
A 17-year-old Las Vegas girl was killed in a rollover crash late Thursday night in Pahrump, the Nevada Highway Patrol said.
The Clark County coroner’s office identified her as Rhea Janolino.
The crash happened about 11:30 p.m. on State Route 160 at Gamebird Road. A Hyundai Accent, driven by another 17-year-old Las Vegas girl, was southbound on SR 160 and crossed the center line. The driver veered to the right and then turned back to the left, causing the car to overturn and roll into a travel lane, NHP Trooper Loy Hixson said.
The Hyundai was then struck by a Mazda SUV, he said.
Janolino, the passenger, was thrown from the Hyundai. She was flown to University Medical Center in Las Vegas, where she died.
The driver of the Hyundai was not injured, and troopers do not believe she was impaired while driving, Hixson said.
The passengers in the Mazda were taken to Desert View Hospital in Pahrump with injuries that were not life-threatening.
